Shawn is the Founder and President of Research Review Service Inc. and it's affiliated service Research Review Service FITNESS. These online subscription services are designed to assist busy practitioners and training professionals to integrate current, relevant evidence from chiropractic, physiotherapy and exercise sciences research, into their clinical practice and in the gym. As a practicing clinician himself, Shawn provides practical insight into the application of scientific research to clinical practice and patient care.  The practitioner, personal trainer is faced with a daunting task of staying abreast of emerging information as the volume of evidence-based information grows. Research Review Service Inc. is designed to help bridge this gap by providing weekly reviews of current scientific articles.

Shawn graduated (magna cum laude) from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto and holds an Honours Degree (summa cum laude) in Kinesiology from McMaster University. He also holds a certificate in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University, and is a Certified Active Release Techniques ® Soft Tissue Treatment provider. As a complement to his manual medicine and acupuncture training, Shawn is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association NSCA-USA.

Shawn has been interviewed by television news programs related to health and fitness issues and also writes for a number of print and online publications including Canadian Chiropractor Magazine. Shawn is currently Associate Clinic Director of SHAPE Health and Wellness Centres in Toronto and a lecturer in the Dept. of Orthopedics at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Toronto.

Dr. Kent Stuber

Dr. Kent Stuber obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular, Molecular & Microbial Biology from the University of Calgary before attending Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with Clinic Honours in 2002. Dr. Stuber graduated in January, 2008 from the University of Sheffield with a Master of Science degree in Health and Social Care Research. Dr. Stuber has maintained a full time practice in Calgary since 2002.

Dr. Stuber has published original and review articles in several peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, Chiropractic & Osteopathy and Clinical Chiropractic, among others, on a variety of topics including football injury prevention, pre-natal chiropractic care, plantar fasciitis, diagnosis of sacroiliac joint injuries, research methods and chiropractic continuing education.

Kent is an editorial board member of the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association and has served as a peer reviewer for the JCCA and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Research Agenda Conference. He is a post-graduate faculty member at the University of Bridgeport Chiropractic College (UBCC) and has written online postgraduate courses for UBCC and CMCC.

Most importantly, Dr. Stuber is the proud dad of Morgan Alexander Stuber and proud husband of Dr. Caterina Lerede.

Dr. Michael T. Haneline DC, MPH

Dr. Haneline attended the University of Nebraska, majoring in Pre-chiropractic, and graduated from Southern California Health Sciences University–Los Angeles College of Chiropractic with Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees. Also, he has a Master of Public Health degree from California College for Health Sciences, is a graduate of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic Orthopedics program, and a Fellow in the Institute of Chiropractic Research (FICR).

Michael practiced chiropractic for nearly 30 years and has been involved in education and research since the early 1980’s. He previously did spinal biomechanics research with Chung Ha Suh, PhD and worked for the Spine Research Institute of San Diego.

Michael is currently a Professor and Head of Chiropractic at the International Medical University Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia teaching evidence-based chiropractic. Dr. Haneline has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and is the author of a recent textbook entitled Evidence-Based Chiropractic Practice.





Dr. Stephen Burnie

Dr. Stephen Burnie BSc (Hon), DC, CAFCI, MSc

Dr. Burnie is a chiropractor practicing at a busy multidisciplinary health clinic in Toronto. Stephen received his Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and was trained in acupuncture at the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI).

In addition to practice, Stephen has a strong interest in research. He earned his Master of Science in Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University in Hamilton, where he was named a Strategic Training Fellow in Rehabilitation Research by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Research Fellow by the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) for 2005 – 2007.

Stephen is a team member of the McMaster HaNSA (Hand, Neck, Shoulder and Arm) research group with a personal research interest in neck pain. He is currently working on several projects investigating optimal treatments for mechanical neck disorders. Stephen is also a member of the Cervical Overview Group (COG), which prepares systematic reviews in the area of neck pain for the Cochrane Collaboration and other journals.

Dr. Robert Rodine graduated with a BSc. in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa prior to receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2007 at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Subsequent to this, Robert was enrolled in Graduate Studies at CMCC in the field of Clinical Sciences. Robert has specific research interests with case studies focusing on unique clinical judgment, systematic reviews of clinical interventions, and the informal processes surrounding health care education and clinical decision making.

Robert currently practices in Smiths Falls, Ontario.

Dr. Hebert is a chiropractor and PhD candidate in exercise physiology at the University of Utah. Jeff holds appointments to the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Utah, where he is actively involved in research, teaching, and patient care. Additionally, Jeff enjoys participating in the postgraduate education of clinicians on the topics of evidence based medicine and spinal rehabilitation.

Dr. Hebert’s research interests focus on clinical topics relevant to the rehabilitation of spinal disorders. He has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed manuscripts in such journals as Spine, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Clinics in Sports Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Hebert serves as a grant and manuscript reviewer for several biomedical journals, research conferences, and funding institutions.

Dr. Hebert is an experienced clinician, having practiced alongside a variety professionals in multidisciplinary environments including: neurology, physical medicine & rehabilitation, neurosurgery, and sports medicine. Dr. Hebert was the first chiropractor to be appointed to the faculty of the University of Utah Hospital, and currently sees patients in the Department of Neurosurgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Dr. Coulis is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic. Prior to receiving his Doctorate, Dr. Coulis received a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Providence College, RI.

Dr. Coulis practices in Connecticut, splitting his time between private practice and the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at a West Haven hospital. Additionally, he maintains a faculty appointment at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic in both the post-graduate and clinical sciences department.

Dr. Coulis has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has had work presented at scientific conferences on topics ranging from novel chemotherapeutic agents to standards of care for cervical myelopathy. His current research focus is on improving the evaluation and management of spine related conditions.




Dr. Stacy Irvine BSc. Kin., M.Sc., D.C., CSCS

Dr. Stacy Irvine is a founder and co-owner of Totum Life Science. Through her work as a chiropractor and strength and conditioning specialist, Dr. Irvine’s clientele ranges from beginners, just starting out on an exercise program, to elite and professional athletes, looking for advanced rehabilitation and training program strategies.

Dr. Irvine has worked as a sessional lecturer and research assistant at the University of Toronto and the University of Saskatchewan. During this time she also published and presented research articles in: Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, and Calcified Tissue International.

She has made several appearances as a fitness expert on Canada AM, Global Television Network, City TV, WTN and Balance Television for Living Well, and is frequently quoted as fitness expert in Flare Magazine, New Woman Magazine, Glow Magazine and The Toronto Star

Before moving to Toronto, Dr.Irvine completed her Bachelor’s of Kinesiology and Masters of Science degree, specializing in Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Density. Following this program she moved to Winnipeg to train and instruct full time with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Upon moving to Toronto, Dr. Irvine completed Stott pilates certification, became a certified ART provider and completed her Dr. of Chiropractic degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.



Dr. Stanley N. Bacso

Dr. Stanley N. Bacso was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario.

Stan received his doctor of chiropractic degree in 1997 from Parker College of Chiropractic, and Fellowship from the College of Chiropractic Orthopedics (Canada) and Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedics (US) in 2005. He also completed his post-doctoral diplomat and neurology (DACNB) in 2002. He has more recently done research and written on digital videofluoroscopy and its usefulness in diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.

Stan is the co-author of, "Stretching for Fitness Health and Performance” (Sterling Publishing). His athletic credentials include competitive football, baseball and rugby. He was an all-star football player in college and has professional experience in the Canadian Football League. He continues to be active in strength training and stretching for maximum performance, and lectures/instructs aspiring athletes in their own athletic and personal pursuits.

Originally from Toronto, Dr. Cubos holds a Bachelors degree in Physical Education and Health and a Masters of Science degree in Kinesiology. Upon his graduation from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Dr. Cubos entered and completed the College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) post-graduate residency program with specialized research in the field of hockey-related concussions.

Dr. Cubos has held teaching positions at York University, Seneca College, and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, and has been a strong contributor to his profession through multiple journal publications and presentations at the Ontario Injury Prevention Conference, the Fifth International Symposium on Safety in Ice Hockey, and the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic Symposium (FICS).

Having a passion for working with elite athletes, Dr. Cubos has worked in numerous sporting events including the OHL Cup, Ironman USA Triathlon, Canadian National Lacrosse Championships, Canadian National Track and Field Championships / Olympic Trials, and most recently as the head doctor of Team Canada at the World Jewish Ice Hockey Championships held in Metula, Israel.

Jeff is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association NSCA-USA, holds the International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma through FICS, and currently maintains a full-time practice with his wife in Spruce Grove, Alberta.

Dr. Brad Muir graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1992 with an honours bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. Dr. Muir worked as a kinesiologist for seven years with varying capacities including: sports injury, occupational, and motor vehicle accident rehabilitation, ergonomics, functional abilities evaluations, marketing and clinic manager. He attained a diploma in acupuncture in 1997 and then returned to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College graduating in 2003. Dr. Muir continued on at the Chiropractic College completing his Sports Sciences Residency in 2005 and attaining his Sports Specialist designation in 2006.

Dr. Muir is currently an Assistant Professor at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and maintains a clinical practice at the Durham Sports Centre in Pickering. Dr. Muir is a co-author and presenter of Running Biodynamics, Hockey Biodynamics and the Functional Assessment of Athletes and has lectured across Canada on these topics. He is also a co-author, co-developer and a head instructor of Vibromax Therapeutics Inc. He has attended the Tae Kwon Do Olympic Carding Games, the Firefighter Combat Challenge Canadian and World Championships and the Dragon Boat Club Crew World Championships.

Dr. Muir has authored articles for Canadian Chiropractor Magazine and has an article accepted for publication by JCCA on Exercise-related Transient Abdominal Pain (Runner’s Stitch).
