![]() Dr. Shawn Thistle Dr. Thistle is the founder and president of RESEARCH REVIEW SERVICE Inc., designed to assist busy practitioners to integrate current, relevant evidence from chiropractic and physiotherapy research, into their practice. As a practicing clinician himself, Shawn provides practical insight into the application of scientific research to clinical practice and patient care. The practitioner is faced with a daunting task of staying abreast of emerging information as the volume of evidence-based information grows,. Research Review Service Inc. is designed to help bridge this gap by providing weekly reviews of current scientific articles. Shawn graduated (magna cum laude) from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto and holds an Honours Degree (summa cum laude) in Kinesiology from McMaster University. He also holds a certificate in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University, and is a Certified Active Release Techniques (ART®) Provider. As a complement to his manual medicine and acupuncture training, Shawn is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association NSCA-USA. Shawn has been interviewed by television news programs related to health and fitness issues and also writes for a number of print and online publications including Canadian Chiropractor Magazine. Shawn is currently Associate Clinic Director of SHAPE Health and Wellness Centres in Toronto, a faculty member in the Dept. of Clinical Education and a lecturer in the Dept. of Orthopedics at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Toronto. For more information please visit Shawn's Personal Website ![]() Dr.Kent Stuber Dr. Kent Stuber obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular, Molecular & Microbial Biology from the University of Calgary before attending Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with Clinic Honours in 2002. Dr. Stuber graduated in January, 2008 from the University of Sheffield with a Master of Science degree in Health and Social Care Research. Dr. Stuber has maintained a full time practice in Calgary since 2002. Dr. Stuber has published original and review articles in several peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, Chiropractic & Osteopathy and Clinical Chiropractic, among others, on a variety of topics including football injury prevention, pre-natal chiropractic care, plantar fasciitis, diagnosis of sacroiliac joint injuries, research methods and chiropractic continuing education. Kent is an editorial board member of the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association and has served as a peer reviewer for the JCCA and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Research Agenda Conference. He is a post-graduate faculty member at the University of Bridgeport Chiropractic College (UBCC) and has written online postgraduate courses for UBCC and CMCC. Most importantly, Dr. Stuber is the proud dad of Morgan Alexander Stuber and proud husband of Dr. Caterina Lerede. ![]() Dr. Michael Haneline Dr. Haneline attended the University of Nebraska, majoring in Pre-chiropractic, and graduated from Southern California Health Sciences University–Los Angeles College of Chiropractic with Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees. Also, he has a Master of Public Health degree from California College for Health Sciences, is a graduate of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic Orthopedics program, and a Fellow in the Institute of Chiropractic Research (FICR). Michael practiced chiropractic for nearly 30 years and has been involved in education and research since the early 1980’s. He previously did spinal biomechanics research with Chung Ha Suh, PhD and worked for the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. Michael is currently a Professor and Head of Chiropractic at the International Medical University Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia teaching evidence-based chiropractic. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and is the author of a recent textbook entitled Evidence-Based Chiropractic Practice. ![]() Dr. Stephen Burnie Dr. Burnie is a chiropractor practicing at a busy multidisciplinary health clinic in Toronto. Stephen received his Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and was trained in acupuncture at the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI). In addition to practice, Stephen has a strong interest in research. He earned his Master of Science in Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University in Hamilton, where he was named a Strategic Training Fellow in Rehabilitation Research by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Research Fellow by the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) for 2005 – 2007. Stephen is a team member of the McMaster HaNSA (Hand, Neck, Shoulder and Arm) research group with a personal research interest in neck pain. He is currently working on several projects investigating optimal treatments for mechanical neck disorders. Stephen is also a member of the Cervical Overview Group (COG), which prepares systematic reviews in the area of neck pain for the Cochrane Collaboration and other journals. ![]() Dr. Robert Rodine (Graduate Student Clinical Sciences CMCC) Dr. Rodine graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2003 with a BSc. in Human Kinetics prior to enrolling at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. After obtaining his DC in 2007, Robert was enrolled in the Department of Graduate Education and Research Programs at CMCC as part of the Clinical Sciences residency. Robert is also a faculty member at CMCC, working as both a teaching assistant and supervising clinician. Robert's residency thesis is focusing on measuring the effect of clinical experience on cognitive competency in chiropractors. In addition, Robert is currently working on a systematic review in the area of fibromyalgia treatment, as well as another project investigating the opinions of orthopedic surgeons on the chiropractic profession. ![]() Dr. Jeffrey J. Hebert Dr. Hebert is a chiropractor and PhD candidate in exercise physiology at the University of Utah. Jeff holds appointments to the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Utah, where he is actively involved in research, teaching, and patient care. Additionally, Jeff enjoys participating in the postgraduate education of clinicians on the topics of evidence based medicine and spinal rehabilitation. Dr. Hebert’s research interests focus on clinical topics relevant to the rehabilitation of spinal disorders. He has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed manuscripts in such journals as Spine, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Clinics in Sports Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Hebert serves as a grant and manuscript reviewer for several biomedical journals, research conferences, and funding institutions. Dr. Hebert is an experienced clinician, having practiced alongside a variety professionals in multidisciplinary environments including: neurology, physical medicine & rehabilitation, neurosurgery, and sports medicine. Dr. Hebert was the first chiropractor to be appointed to the faculty of the University of Utah Hospital, and currently sees patients in the Department of Neurosurgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. ![]() Dr. Christopher Coulis Dr. Coulis is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic. Prior to receiving his Doctorate, Dr. Coulis received a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Providence College, RI. Dr. Coulis practices in Connecticut, splitting his time between private practice and the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at a West Haven hospital. Additionally, he maintains a faculty appointment at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic in both the post-graduate and clinical sciences department. Dr. Coulis has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has had work presented at scientific conferences on topics ranging from novel chemotherapeutic agents to standards of care for cervical myelopathy. His current research focus is on improving the evaluation and management of spine related conditions. |
